Andy Baylor Band

Andy Baylor is one of Australia’s most versatile and accomplished musicians, known for blending the rich legacy of 20th-century American popular music with his own Australian roots to create a distinctive and powerful sound.

Born in Melbourne, Andy is a celebrated roots writer, multi-instrumentalist, and performer who has done more in his musical career than most could ever imagine. He has earned the title of "Melbourne's King of Roots," a testament to his deep understanding and mastery of the genre.

“Melbourne is a treasure-trove of fine music and marvellous musical practitioners. One of the most gifted is Andy Baylor. He is a master of space and time,” said Ken Williams of The Age.

A guitarist with an extensive knowledge of blues, jazz, folk, and country music, Andy's journey began in Melbourne's vibrant inner-city music scene, playing in beloved bands like The Blue Rockets, The Honeydrippers, and The Auto Drifters. His musical path then took him further afield, where he honed his craft alongside visiting American legends, including blues greats like Jimmy Witherspoon, saxophone pioneer Big Jay McNeely, funky Hammond organ virtuoso Jimmy McGriff, Tex-Mex accordion king Flaco Jimenez, New Orleans' own Coco Robicheaux, bluesman Louisiana Red, and voodoo blues king Screamin' Jay Hawkins, among many others.

Andy Baylor's music is a reflection of this rich, diverse experience, capturing the essence of multiple genres while maintaining a unique and personal voice.

“Over the years Andy Baylor has taken us on a world tour of musical styles, from western swing to Cajun boogie, country blues to sublime pop… Like many of the finest things in life, Andy’s new record takes it’s time to reveal its many delights. What at first seems a record of simple dignity gradually emerges as emotionally complex and full of quiet passion.” Jeff Glorfeld, The Age.
