About St Kilda Blues Festival
A weekend of free music for everybody

A Passion For Blues
Live Music Lives Here!
Now in it’s seventh year the St Kilda Blues festival is the brainchild of blues fans and hospitality experts, Gavan and Sonya Breen who wanted to provide “A free weekend celebrating the spirit of the blues, the music and all things blues. Music everywhere for everybody.”
It’s in our DNA
Blues music has historically been used as a raw expression of empowerment against an otherwise oppressive social climate to gather community & inject back a sense of humanity into the cultural landscape using weeping guitars, harmonicas, bass guitars & belting vocals. Here in St Kilda, musical styles extend to slide guitar, fingerpicking style, folk, punk, alt blues and country blues to showcase the unique musical styles coming out of Australia’s capitol of live music!
“Live music is in St Kilda’s DNA- so the blues festival is a great way of supporting local venues and musicians” – Louise Crawford, former mayor of City of Port Phillip said.

Port Phillip Council proudly supports the St Kilda Blues Festival through its Cultural Development Fund and Locals Playing Locals initiative, which directly supports home-grown performers.
“The St Kilda Blues Festival is yet another reason to visit St Kilda, Victoria’s first Live Music Precinct. It’s fun, free and a great way to celebrate the timeless spirit of the blues at lively local venues,” Mayor Heather Cunsolo said.
