The Hornets
The Hornets bring together some of Australia’s most celebrated and respected musicians. Fronted by singer-songwriter Craig Horne, the band features Jeff Burstin on guitar (from Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons and The Black Sorrows), alongside fellow guitarist Wayne Burt (also from Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons and The Black Sorrows), Wayne Duncan from Daddy Cool on bass, Chris Tabone from The Badloves on drums, and Bruce Haymes on keyboards (known for his work with Paul Kelly and Renée Geyer).
Flexible in their lineup, The Hornets can perform as a duo, trio, or up to a full six-piece band. For nine years, they’ve been a mainstay on Australia’s blues and roots music scene, releasing six CDs to rave reviews and building a devoted fan base through their electrifying live shows. The Age declared them “the best blues band in Melbourne,” while the Herald Sun praised their performances as ones that “demanded attention.”
“Original and engaging with the right amount of swagger.” — _Garry Williams, Herald Sun (4 star review)_
“The Hornets are steeped in the blues, they rise out of the Yarra Valley delta meeting at the mythical crossroads where Chicago grit has blown in. This is an earthy blues band with a pedigree of outstanding musicians.” — _Warwick McFadyen, The Age
