Louis king’s Royal Quartet
Tommy McEwan has been a prominent figure in the Australian music scene for decades, making his mark as a full-time musician since the 1980s. He first gained attention as the young drummer in The Rubes, before going on to play with well-known Aussie acts like the Straight 8's and No Nonsense. He’s also had backing musician roles with touring acts such as Deke Dickerson, The Starliners, The Detonators, and even drummed for the UK's Extrordinaires.
A key player in Australia’s roots music scene, Tommy cemented his reputation with his 1996 debut CD as Louis King. His unique blend of Blues, Rock ’n’ Roll, and Rockabilly has earned global recognition from music icons such as Billy Pennell, TV Week’s Jeff Jenkins, Blues Review (the U.S. blues bible), and Rolling Stone magazine.
Tommy’s extensive touring has taken him across Australia, including appearances at major festivals like the East Coast Festival in Byron Bay (five times), as well as the Bridgetown, Cairns, and Broadbeach Blues festivals. His international career includes seven European tours, performing at iconic events like the Great British Blues Festival, the Kwadendamme Blues Festival in the Netherlands, Spain’s Screamin’ Festival, and Romania’s Open Air Festival. In 2017, he performed at the renowned Viva Las Vegas festival as a guest at Deke Dickerson’s Guitar Geek Festival. More recently, in 2023, Tommy toured the Netherlands, UK, and Germany.
Louis King will be heading back to Europe in July 2024 for his next chapter on the international stage.
