Cam Walters Blues

After picking up guitar at a young age, Cam soon developed a deep love for the blues wearing out records from the likes of B.B. King, John Lee Hooker and Eric Clapton, learning all the guitar licks. While the other kids were listening to Metallica and Madonna Cam was the misfit listening to old blues and psychedelic rock with Jimi Hendrix seeming an almost religious figure.

He spent many years playing in bands from Relax With Max (James Brown tribute) and Brown Hornet (original funk) to Fats Wah Wah (blues roots) as well as wedding bands and pub rock. Fronting a blues band feels like coming home and what he was always supposed to do….

Cam Walter Blues is at its core a 3 piece blues trio with Cam Walter on guitar/vocals and the hard working rhythm section of Grant Cummerford on bass and Tim Burnham on drums.

Hailing from Mt. Dandenong in Melbourne’s East and drawing on blues styles such as Delta blues, Boogie, Hendrixian psych rock and a good dash of old school rock ’n’ roll. The band will often perform as a quartet or quintet with guests drawn from some of Melbourne’s finest blues musicians to trade songs and solos. Spontaneity, energy, creative risk and authentic sounds from 1960’s style equipment played “the old way” lend to the expression and swagger at the heart of blues. The set list and performance is constantly evolving with new originals and covers featured at every show.

The band is currently rehearsing a backlog of originals with a plan to release an album of re-imagined blues classics and gritty original songs in the near future.
